What is your mission?

Mission statements are everywhere, promoting why organizations exist. Take a look around the next time you enter a business, look at a menu in a restaurant or check out your favorite website. There are also personal mission statements that help an individual live on purpose.

Have you ever thought about creating your own mission statement, actually going through the process of self-examination, thinking about what motivates you and determining your unique purpose?

I went through an exercise a year ago to create my personal mission statement. I found GOD has really worked in my life. Looking back at the blessings he has given me helps me focus and decide what I should do and what I should not do. I suggest you put your personal mission statement on paper and look at it daily.

We are bombarded with distractions daily. There are numerous choices and decisions to make about what to do next, what path to follow, what opportunity to pursue. Understanding and acknowledging your purpose can help you make the choices that keep you on track.

Christian Mission Progress: Gospel For Asia And Other Groups

This is a article that was put out today and it just goes to show you that mission work can be done at home and overseas. Even in the poorest of areas many, Christians share the good news of Jesus. We can do the same here locally, join us at the Anchor Sunday to see how!

Christian missionaries are as active as ever nowadays. Gospel for Asia, as well as other similar organizations, is at the forefront of evangelism and church planting. Basically, they spread the Christian faith to new geographical areas and cultures, and establish new Christian churches.

The majority of non-Christians live in an area that extends from West Africa to East Asia. It is commonly known among missionaries as the 10/40 window, so called because it covers the area from 10 degrees north to 40 degrees north of the equator. It has the largest population of Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists.

There was a time when most Christian mission organizations are based in the West, mainly from North America. Nowadays, many countries are seeing more local evangelists than western ones. In India, for instance, one of the largest Christian mission organizations is founded by a local, KP Yohannan.

Unlike western missionaries, local missionaries have few or no cultural barriers to overcome in their ministry. They are able to speak the local dialect or language, which makes it easier for the people to relate to them. Also, foreigner missionaries have restricted access to many of the areas in the 10/40 window, whereas local missionaries will have better chances of reaching the populace.

Mission organizations are funded and operated with much help from other people. For instance, volunteers are always needed to assist in activities and events. They can help with the coordination and organization, such as logistics, catering, and managing the attendees.

Big ministries like Gospel for Asia also have openings for administrative, financial, technical and communications support jobs. People can show their support in a conventional way by applying for these jobs, as well as inviting speakers from missionary organizations to one’s church and distributing reading materials such as Bibles, pamphlets and other missionary publications.

Many people choose to make a donation, instead. Money donations through cash, check or credit card are accepted, as well as material donations such as clothes, books, tools, equipment and food. Some people sponsor a child that the mission supports or a missionary assigned to the field. A certain amount is sent monthly to the organization to help pay for their needs.

Christian missionary organizations nowadays use technology and various media to help people know more about them and how they can help in spreading the Gospel. Websites, paper and online publications, radio and TV programs - these are made available to as many people as possible. For instance, India’s KP Yohannan has written several books and toured several times in several countries to promote Gospel for Asia. Other mission leaders are doing the same, and they all have the same goal: to spread the Gospel and bring as many people as possible within the fold of Christianity.

Few organizations are available that do a lot of good in the world. Fortunately, Gospel for Asia, manned by KP Yohannan, is one of those organizations. They share the good news of Jesus Christ to those who have never before heard it.
